How to Fix Debt (Late Pass)

When I first saw this prompt I thought to myself, "Hannah, you do not know how to fix debt."  Because I myself have the worst finance system ever (my system = if I like it I buy it), I figured that I was not qualified in the least to propose a system that would fix the debt of the whole nation.  Logically, my next move was to ask someone who is experienced in this matter, so I asked my father.  He is a finance man and likes to give me speeches about how I'm not going to be able to support myself if I spend all my money on Chick-fil-a and One Direction paraphernalia.  I texted him for a quick one or two sentence response, but instead I got a tirade that I'll probably only read the first line of.  By now I'm sure you have realized that this is not about debt, so I should probably add some real information in now...I just read that whole message and all I got was to not spend more than you receive.  I hope that counts.

the last year

Im not sure about the blog posts and due dates but Varun informed me that this once was due. I cant rate the past year honestly. Its not what i expected in the slightest. Unfortunately I watched two graduation speeches today at Duke for my cousins graduation so anything that i write will be incredibly trite. But in the honor of cliches, this year was a good learning experience. there are things, like classes, that i wouldve changed or tried harder in but thats a learning lesson. This was truly a year in which I thought about who i was and who i wanted to become, and that was the most typical independent clause ever written. I could only compare this year to my musical journey I have embarked upon. In the words of my current artist whom Im listening to "a thug changes, and loves changes, and best friends become strangers. Word up" - Nas. Indeed, word up.

The Past Year

The past year has been eventful to say the least. I started the year at close to 250 pounds and came down to finish at 193. More was shed than just weight, but I also released a long held burden. In addition, I discovered my passion, creating music. Originally, it had been something I contemplated pursuing, but through the experiences of this year, I have become convinced that it is my calling. More importantly, I found my closest friends this year. People who I imagine myself spending time with for years to come, and that is something I had never previously experienced. Although my grades never became what I wished, I built a new work ethic, I established a new faith in my friends, and as cliche as this may sounds, I really feel as if I "found myself." Overall, I would characterize my junior year as being pretty remarkable.

Blog 6 – At This Moment *Late Pass

At this moment in time, there is a lot going on in the world of Politics. North Carolina has passed some legislation regarding gay marriage in their state that has caused a lot of people on facebook to get upset, and sparked many lively debates on several status updates. Obama has remarked on this legislation, expressing his full support on the issue of gay marriage. It is interesting to see all of the heated debate on facebook, as well as how upset that everybody gets with one another. Facebook makes it easy to argue relevant issues, such as gay marriage and healthcare. I wonder if people would debate these relevant issues as often without social media, and if they would, how and where they would do it. People often get really upset on these facebook debates, as people bring in more sensitive subjects such as religion, and start attacking each other. I have never taken part in one of these debates, but to me it seems that they don’t realize everybody can read what they are posting.

Blog 5 – 100 Years *Late Pass

I think that in one hundred years, there are a few possibilities on what is going on. One possibility is that there are no huge groundbreaking revelations in technology and life as we know it is pretty much the same with just a few different aspects. Another possibility is that there has been a nuclear war, and the whole world is in complete chaos, and everybody is fighting for survival. Another possibility is that there has been a zombie apocalypse, and there are only a few survivors, myself being one of them. Another possibility is that technological advances have been so great, we are all in flying cars, or have robots that do everything for us. Along that line, it is also possible that earth’s climate is so bad off, we all have to live in space ships (much like in the family favorite Disney film, wall-e).  Personally, I hope that our country has turned around in a sense, and put a bigger emphasis on health and exercise.

Blog 4 - Changes *Late Pass

I want to start this off by saying I personally believe that Henry Clay High School is the best public school in the county. I know people from every other public school, and through listening to their opinions, and complaints, I don’t think there is any better place around to get your high school education than Henry Clay High School. There are still a few problems that I think we could work on. One of them occurred earlier this year. Many of my peers along with myself were not assigned a United States History textbook, because there was no money for them. At about that same time, like three flat screen plasma televisions showed up around the school. There are two in the cafeteria that, all year, have served no educational purpose. They just show sports centre and other dumb shows all the time. Also, I believe our school could do more to cut back on students smoking in the bathrooms.

Harry Potter vs. Lord of the Rings

Harry Potter vs. Lord of the Rings. That is a tough choice. I love both of these series. When it comes to Harry Potter I have seen all of the movies and also read all of the books. When it comes to Lord of the Rings I practically have the movies memorized and have read two of the books and plan to finish the series. I grew up when both movie series were coming out and I watched them both all the time. Me and my sister used to act out Lord of the Rings while playing in out attic. She was always Aragorn and I was always Legolas. We each played multiple characters and used our pool sticks as swords and giant green ball as our horse and our barbies as spare characters. I love both of these series and I don't think I could choose a favorite between the two. When picking between Star Wars and Star Trek I would have to pick Star Wars because I love those movies. I have never actually seen Star Trek and I probably need to. But I love the Star Wars movies and just like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings the last few installments of the series came out during my childhood so I've grown up watching these movies. So in this case I would have to pick Star Wars.
