never mind, the titles a lie. this is a ridiculously difficult question, nearly every book i read, my favorite characters die. often brutally. v, from v for vendetta has lived a horribly painful life, Simon from lord of the flies is ultimately beaten to death, William lee from naked lunch is too much of a junkie, and johnny truant from house of leaves combines two of the previous with the implication of a third. so, i chose Finn, from adventure time.

because swag. or better yet, because he's happy, because his friends are always loyal, and because the world he is fortunate enough to occupy is filled to the brim with wonder. there's always something new and exciting and trippy to do.
the combination of his surroundings, his moral compass, and his flowing luxurious hair, make him the best character i can even think of.
