I use my iPod a lot in my everyday life. As I touched on in my last post, there is a lot of variety of songs on my iPod, and this list will reflect this. These five of my favorite songs that I listen to the most and never get tired of.
1.Hotel California-Eagles-This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It is masterfully instrumented, and if you listen to the mariachi version of the song, you'll see what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHQceX8hGrI There's the link, have at it. You'll see what I mean. In addition to the instrumentals, it also tells a great story, which is really a complicated metaphor for fame.
2.Lose Yourself-Eminem-The sheer energy of this song is overwhelming. It is five and a half minutes of nonstop pure energy. His lyrics blend seamlessly form one verse to the next. As well as being musically appealing, Eminem also weaves an amazing story at the same time.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TADyXC2K0g&feature=fvst
3.Hells Bells-AC/DC-The best part of this song is the buildup. This song starts out with the sound of ringing bells, and adds layer after layer of instrumentation until...
"I'm rolling thunder, pouring rain
I'm coming on like a hurricane
My lighting's flashing across the sky
You're only young, but you're gonna die"

4.Sunday, Bloody Sunday-U2-This song contrasts itself. The song opens with a harsh, almost military-style drumbeat, which contrasts the message of the song, which is a plea to end the violence in Ireland. The guitar part, while simple, is extremely catchy and really the main thing that I notice in this song.

5.Savior-Rise Against-Rise Against probably my favorite musical group. The range of subjects they cover, and the renge of music they use to do it is amazing. It was hard to pick just one song for Rise Against, but I finally settled on Savior. This song takes a love song, and gives it an edge. It is this edge which make it such a great song. I talked about energy earlier, and it is this energy which keeps this from being just another slow love song. Also, if you can figure out the metaphor in the music video on the first try, i'll be impressed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8X3ACToii0&ob=av2n Yes, people in animal suits. Good luck with that.
