This is my first actual post on the correct blog, so hi classmates! Anyway, down to business.
Like most other technologically oriented persons of modern day society, I have a smart phone. It's a major factor in my life, and I use it every day. My smartphone in particular happens to be the white iPhone 3gs, and without it, I'm not sure what I'd do. How would I entertain myself? How could I access music on the go? For Gods sake, what if I missed a phone call? Oh the humanity!
My point is, although smartphones are nice, we use them to much.
Anyway, the second half of this prompt was to post a playlist of 5 songs I would have at any given time. Here goes (in no particular order):
1. Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites - Skrillex
2. Gospel John - Maynard Ferguson
3. Betrayed - Avenged Sevenfold
4. Limelight - Rush
5. The Planets, Op. 32: I. Mars, the Bringer of War - The London Symphony Orchestra
And now my "short" paragraph for why I would choose these five songs. Skrillex is crazy. He makes some great stuff, but only if you have the right equipment with which to hear it. Dubstep is "dance music" to me, if I didn't think the concept of "dancing" was stupid in the first place, it would be what I "dance" to. Gospel John is on the list due to my obsession with trumpet playing. I recently tried to figure out what inspired me to play in the first place, and I couldn't figure it out. But to play like this is somewhere in that motivation. Betrayed is on the list due to my "metal-head" music taste. If I had to pick one genre to be stuck with, metal is an easy choice. Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) has been my favorite band for a good 3+ years, for their sound I suppose, but Betrayed is easily my favorite song by them. Limelight is on my list because it is one of the few songs I actually look deep into the music too for "meaning". My personal opinion is that music evokes emotion through sound, not analysis, but Limelight is one of the few songs I find analytically pleasing. Finally, I have The Planets, Op. 32: I. Mars, the Bringer of War (Henceforth ; Mars) On my list also due to my band-geek-ness. Simply put, Mars is one of my favorite "classical" pieces of music, and I'd like to keep a travel-playlist with a bit of variety, and not, lets say, all Jack Johnson.
