Rosie the Riveter is the exemplification of what was once against American values. The propaganda was made in World War II to motivate American women to fill the jobs traditionally employed by men. This was because most if not all the men were at war at the time. It features a "Rosie the Riveter", an American women who states "We Can Do It!", with it being supporting their husbands away at war. Or something like that.

It really makes one ponder what are "American Values" anyway, when one thinks about the effect and after-effects that this piece of propaganda had on American society. Before this concept of women working in factories and other such places was the only way to keep them running, women were not even considered for jobs like this. Nowadays, the question is more why a woman gets payed thirty cents less than it is why a woman is working there in the first place.
