Ill start this off by saying that i pretty much like all types of music, whether it be rock or jazz or metal. but some things about the eighties really stand out. first off, Hair Metal is not a bad genre ok? i mean sure some of the bands were complete freaks, like Twisted Sister, but the songs were upbeat and really had a crunchy drive to it. next, the eighties was the birth of Guns N' Roses. i understand that the sound of a dying cat singing isnt everyones fave, buit the guitarist that got me into music was in that band, and thats Slash baby. and he just plain rocks. not to mention, literally everybody said "dude" and "wassup?" at this time. and those are my favorite ways of saying hi. also Jeans are the thing in the eighties. they were worn by pretty much everybody and it was great. i could blend in with everybody then. i think also it would be way easier for me to pick up chicks in the 80's. if you played guitar and were in a band, nine out of ten times you were probably way more attractive. this is still true now somewhat, maybe like 4 out of ten, but back then it would be like awesome. my final reason id love to be in the eighties is not because of drugs, and not because of smoking or any other crap like that, but because back then, music was way way way more thoughtful and lyrically driven. these days you have artists like Kesha and (dear God) Rebecca Black who just happen to become famous off of miserablly low quality lyrics that are backed by overused tracks and computer generated noise fills. but in the eighties, Music was still based around the intsruments played. sure you had synthesized keyboards and overdriven guitar riffs, but at least people could play that on stage and live in front of peiople instead of "singing" into an autotuned mike with every track of your song digitally recorded playing through. the eighties had such a unique vibe, and i would love to be in that time.
