Technology: A Love Story

Technology has definitely been a huge factor of my life. Growing up when I did, I was among the first generation of kids to use cell phones. My iPhone is the one thing I have with me no matter what. I can check my e-mail, play games, listen to my favorite music, watch videos, take pictures, and communicate with my friends and family, all from the palm of my hand. Everything we (especially me) do today in society typically revolves around technologies. Television, a relatively new invention is used my the majority of Americans, at least once a day. Even previously discovered technologies have been improved. Things such as computers, phones, radios, and games have been spiffed and shined, especially in the past few decades. However, something I hate is when people, especially old people, have plenty of technology at their hands and don't use it. For my father's 60th birthday, my mom bought him an iPhone 4. My dad can't use a computer. Things like this disappoint me to say the least, especially since I am in love with technology, but the other thing to be said about it is that it is still constantly evolving. Within five years, my dad's new iPhone will likely be considered old and out of date, and be replaced by at least two newer models. I view this as a good thing, as a sign of technology continuing to be evolved. Twenty years ago, I would not be able to survive. And in twenty more years I will likely be overwhelmed by the ease of daily life brought by newer and newer technologies. Perhaps, by my 60th birthday, I won't even begin to try to conquer things such as spaceships, holograms, and other technologies the future potentially holds.
