War

Is there a time for war? I would say so. Should that time be avoided when at all possible? Definitely. War should be reserved for those situations where we as a nation have our backs against the wall, when we can't solve the issue peacefully. There's no reason to flail our army around and have people killed for no reason. I believe that there are times when a nation has a responsibility to go to war, but they don't come very often. I wish I could say that if it doesn't concern us, don't get involved. But unfortunately, there are times where we need to interject ourselves into a situation, because we are such a powerful nation. The problem is that if we do that more times than absolutely necessary, we would develop into a nation constantly having to bury more and more soldiers. How we interact with other nations is how we are perceived by the rest of the world. The alternatives to war are of course peaceful negotiations between nations. These happen daily, wars don't. There's good reason for that.
