So I'll "free-write" transposition. MY GOD, I DESPISE ON SIGHT TRANSPOSITION WITH A FIERY PASSION. I suppose it's simply due to my lack of practice on the subject, which can be easily overcome. However, that doesn't subside my frustration. Most people have trouble reading music fluently in the first place, how others manage to bring forth these other-worldly reading prowess is beyond me. An accurate comparison would be reading a language and translating it to your native tongue on sight. Because that's truly what it is. For example, if one reads Don Quixote in Spanish, but fluently hears it in English in their mind (assuming their native tongue is English), they would be a good at tranposing those particular things. Now imagine taking a given piece of music, and altering its key on sight. Yeah, that's the predicament. Just like my hypothetical person, I suppose the skill will come with time. But for the time being, its still confusing as algoth. (don't get me started on algoth).
