The music is cued, a general sway comes around the group, and in an instant, this group goes from smiling doo wop-ers to beautiful five part harmony. No one really knows what's going on, but we all pretend like we do. Three rehearsals, and now a performance. Six semi-memorized songs, sixteen nervous singers, and a gaggle of audience all anxiously awaiting what is in store. We sing the right notes, we rock out the last-minute choreography, and bring the house down. Joseph Beth is pleased. We have little kids breaking it down, adults stopping their shopping to video tape, and a very sweet woman with a mental handicap dancing along. It goes off without a hitch. It has always been said that the TV show Glee is unrealistic. And I would always agree. No one can just break out into harmony and dance with very little previous work. And yet, I feel like we just did. We may not have just picked up the music, but three rehearsals doesn't get a group very far. These three got us a show. I am so fortunate to be a part of this fabulously talented group of people, and I feel so much pride of my membership in Starlight Singers.
